FRACTAL in collaboration with the UCM Astrophysics Group has built a high resolution diffraction grating.

FRACTAL, in collaboration with the Astrophysics Department of the University Complutense of Madrid, has designed and is already building a prototype for a high resolution grating base on segmenting the pupil and the recovering the image on detector. This novel method will allow us to get high spectral resolution where this was not possible before. In particular this method can be applied to Littrow-instruments to increase the resolution, to Space instruments, due to the compactness of these elements and to existing and new instruments in large Ground-based telescopes. This project has been partially funded by the Aerospatial Plan of the Madrid Local Government (Exp: 22/2009 AEROESPACIAL 2009, Reference: 04-AEC0913-000022/2009).
